Solid lubricant containing grease
Industrial grease with solids

Greases containing solid particles, such as molybdenum disulfide (moly), graphite, PTFE, or boron nitride, are specialized lubricants designed for high-load, low-speed, or extreme-temperature environments where fluid films fail. These particles offer wear protection, shock load reduction, and, as thickeners (e.g., inorganic bentonite clay), maintain the grease structure.
Solid lubricants act exclusively in the boundary regime. Their lubrication mechanism is based on their ability to form a thin film on the surfaces of moving components. This Tribofilm layer acts as a barrier between the surfaces, helping to reduce adhesive wear. These particles can also reduce the friction between the surfaces thanks to their very low shear strength.
Greases containing solid PTFE particles
Molylub Lycos TF series greases containing solid polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) particles are high-performance lubricants designed to reduce friction, wear, and energy consumption in demanding industrial, automotive, and food-processing applications. The solid PTFE acts as a dry film boundary lubricant, providing lubrication even when the base oil or grease is washed away or in high-temperature, low-speed „stick-slip” conditions
White-coloured Molylub Lycos TF grease with PTFE specially formulated for use on most mechanisms: sliding guides, chains, open gears, plain bearings…, used in industry and in particular in the food sector.
The presence of PTFE ensures the formation of a dry film. It reduces friction and avoids fouling by solid contaminants. All the ingredients of this product have been H1 approved by the European INS organisation which authorises incidental contact with food.

Molylub Lycos GR series greases containing solid graphite are specialized lubricants designed for extreme conditions where conventional oil-based greases fail, such as very high temperatures, heavy loads, or slow speeds. Graphite, acting as a solid lubricant, forms a tenacious, slippery layer on metal surfaces that remains effective even when the oil base evaporates, offering excellent anti-seize, wear-reduction, and anti-corrosion properties.
Graphite solids containing grease
Due to its special properties, graphite offers first-class performance as a lubricant – whether for the lubrication of heavy components, high temperatures or as an indispensable component in release agents.
Grease’ solid lubricant packages used account for the dark colour of this group of greases. Depending on the later application of the lubricant, graphite or also molybdenum disulphide was included this way. These two media lead to improved friction coefficients of the lubricant as a result of their layer lattice structure. From this, the black greases are particularly suitable for assembly applications to keep forces or torques as low as possible. This is always the case for large components or interference fits. It is seen here that graphite and particularly molybdenum disulphide have an enormous pressure resistance.
