Low temperature resistant grease

Low-temperature machinery maintenance requires switching to winter-grade lubricants (lower viscosity), using arctic-grade hydraulic fluids, and ensuring coolant is rated for local temperatures, usually a 50/50 mix. Prevent failures by using block heaters, keeping batteries fully charged, using fuel anti-gel additives, and clearing ice/snow to prevent rust. NLGI grades 0, 1, and 2 are most common in cold climates, while softer grades (00 or 000) are often used in centralized lubrication systems where pumping is needed in severe cold.
Low-temperature machinery lubrication requires lubricants that remain fluid, preventing starvation, high torque, and equipment damage. Key solutions include using synthetic base oils as PAO, POE esters with low pour points, high viscosity index (VI) fluids, and additives to reduce wax crystal growth.
Synthetic frost resistant low-temp grease
Industrial lubricant is formulated with temperature ranges in mind. Low-temperature lubricants are designed to stay fluid and protective when exposed to freezing or subzero conditions, while high-temperature lubricants are built to resist breakdown under heat and friction. Using the wrong type often means a lubricant will either thicken too much in the cold or thin out under heat, leaving equipment unprotected.

Temperature conditions that are sometimes extreme require lubricants with exceptional properties. Molylub Aerol series low-temperature greases are formulated to operate at these limiting temperatures, down to -60°C for some of them.
Molylub Aerol series low-temperature greases
These greases allow you, at strongly negative temperatures, to establish a lubricant film almost immediately and thus limit wear linked to friction, in particular at start-up. The apparent viscosity remains functional, encouraging grease flow and guaranteeing its correct operation.
Molylub Aerol series Low-temperature greases are particularly suitable for lubrication of equipment such as:
- equipment for use in snow
- aviation and aerospace equipment
- railway equipment
- mechanical or electrical equipment for motor vehicles,
- conveyor belts, rollers in cold storage
- micro gear reducers, miniature electric motors, robots
Extreme Low Temperature Grease
Molylub Aerol series are excellent service greases with an extreme temperature range, allowing it to resist cold without deterioration of the lubricating properties and still withstand summer or other high temperatures. It will resist such environmental contact as humidity, ice and road salts without hardening, washing off or deteriorating. Molylub Aerol is an anhydrous, calcium 12- hydroxy stearate grease with a dropping point of 285°F (141°C). It contains no solid additives such as graphite, moly disulfide, or zinc oxide. It also passes the application salt-spray-resistance and rust tests required by the United States Government for its severe environmental contact greases.
Low Temperature Cryogenic Grease
Molylub Aerol top quality, multi-purpose, low temperature synthetic grease is specifically designed for use in extreme cold, such as winter weather, polar or cryogenic conditions. We recommend this waterproof, odourless grease for use in a wide variety of low temp applications including: construction and surveying, freezer cards, cold room conveyors, freeze drying equipment, liquid nitrogen applications, packaging plants, and oil and gas production.
Suitable for Liquid Nitrogen our grease can also be utilized on equipment exposed to liquid nitrogen, used for “quick freezing” food products and biological samples. The freeze-drying process requires any lubricant to function properly in extreme cold and at room temperature once the freezing cycle has been completed. This grease’s viscosity stability makes it the lubricant of choice for liquid nitrogen, cryogenic, and even liquid oxygen plant applications.
