Industrial Process Oils

Process oils are special oils which are used in a wide variety of chemical and technical industries either as raw material component or as an aid to processing. Shell is one of the leading process oil manufacturers and recognises the crucial role that process oils play in your products and operations.

Process oils are used as additional product in elastomers industry. They arise from petroleum refining cycle and improve the workability of elastomers without altering their physical properties ensuring the quality of final product.

Molylub TexTec series Textile industry process oils are specialized lubricants and agents used to reduce friction, prevent static, and protect fibre quality during manufacturing, while also lubricating machinery components like needles and chains. They are crucial for improving efficiency, preventing fiber breakage, and enhancing the soft feel of finished fabrics.

Molylub TW series Industrial process oils are specialized petroleum-derived or synthetic oils used as essential ingredients, extenders, or carriers in manufacturing, rather than just for lubrication. Key applications include softening polymers in tire/rubber production, acting as processing aids in ink and adhesive manufacturing, and serving as anti-foam agents or dust suppressants,

as rubber plasticizer

Molylub TW series process oils are refined from crude petroleum through a series of steps that remove impurities and isolate desired hydrocarbon structures. The refining method determines the oil’s composition (aromatic, naphthenic, or paraffinic), and directly impacts its performance in rubber, plastic, and other formulations. Process oils are used in a variety of industrial applications primarily as processing aids, carriers, or modifiers during the manufacturing of rubber, plastics, and other materials.

Molylub TW series process oils play a critical role in the formulation of polymer compounds and rubber blends. They typically represent 20–50% of a polymer compound, such as TPE, and up to 100 parts per hundred in rubber blends, such as EPDM. The process oil functions as an extender oil, and it is extremely important that it has good performance and compatibility with the polymer as this influences the rubber’s softness, elasticity and colour stability.
