Forming oils

Varieties in the metal-forming industries include complex processes such as sheet metal-stamping, wire-drawing, hydroforming, rolling and hot- or cold-forming. These processes often have high pressures between acting surfaces and in many applications’ high temperatures as well.

Forming oils for stamping, drawing, blanking lubrication

Main properties of metal-forming lubricants include lubricity, cooling, scrap-metal removal and protection against corrosion. The overall goal is to ensure that tools, dies and other metal-forming components will work to produce as much of the end-product parts with a minimum amount of maintenance due to degradation from excessive heat, wear and corrosion.

Molylub DrawOil series ,etal-forming lubricants

Molylub DrawOil series comprehensive Metal Forming Fluid line includes synthetic lubricants, soluble oils, straight oils, vanishing oil lubricants, and specialised lubricants. We provide solutions for all metal forming operations, including automotive and component stamping, fine blanking, deep drawing, cold heading, hydroforming, wire drawing, extruding, tube forming, roll forming, and hot stamping.

Considering what type of fluid to use, you must take all of these factors into account along with the application method in regards to timing and location. Proper lubricant selection should also be based on certain parameters such as the metal being formed, the application or process method, the quality of water, requirements of the worked metal before and after the process, as well as customer preferences.

Molylub EvaDraw ALU3

Evaporating lubricant for drawing and punching – not water miscible

Description: Molylub EvaDraw ALU3 is a preparation based on synthetic hydrocarbons with a low viscosity and synthetic fatty acid esters. Fully evaporation without residues ( not much as 3 %) leaving a dry super thin, almost no noticeable but very effective lubricating film.

Benefits: Neutral odour,  perfect drawing tension with smallest lubrication film. Effective drawing tools wear protection. Safe lubrication film ensures application in food package production.

Technical Data:

Appearance:                                           clear, colourless liquid

Density at 15 °C/59 °F:                            790 kg/m³

Kin. Viscosity at 40 °C/104 °F:                 1.5 mm2/s

Flash point (PM, DIN EN ISO 2719):         78 °C/172 °F

Pour point:                                             < 5 °C/41 °F

Drawing fluid application:

Molylub EvaDraw ALU3 is used undiluted for drawing forming and punching aluminium and thin steel sheets in Roofing and Automotive body part production industries. It works very well on light-duty drawing and stamping operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Forming operations such as blanking, punching, stamping and drawing of sheets.

The film on the metal surface provides the necessary corrosion protection for several days if stored under roof. The application is possible as dip and drain spraying, dropping and painting.

Remarks for forming oil use :

Store frost-free at temperatures above 5 °C/41 °F.

Molylub experienced application engineers and dedicated R&D engineers assists you with selecting the optimal products and process sequences. They will help with the implementation of the overall process (pretreatment, forming lubricants, cleaning/stripping, after-treatment) in the existing plants. Your requirements will be taken into account at all times. And we always bear in mind future product developments as well as local legal requirements.
